Beginning Tuesday, October 31, 2017, the IMAP and POP3 mail services will no longer accept unencrypted connections. After that date, only encrypted connections will be allowed to these services. The use of encrypted connections, which are supported in all recent clients, will protect users' e-mail data and prevent account abuse.
Users can find instructions on how to configure their e-mail clients correctly on the Help Desk webpage. In addition, the Help Desk staff will send separate notices to those individuals whose accounts are currently making unencrypted IMAP and POP3 connections, to notify them of the impending service change and any configuration updates they may need to make.
