A leading-edge integrated information environment is
integral to teaching, learning, and research. Rensselaer
employs a first-rate information culture and a robust
information infrastructure. We must sustain this advantage,
valuing information literacy at every level and implementing
new methods for scholarly communication and electronic
interactions. (8.2 Information
Infrastructure, The Rensselaer
Plan)
A message from the CIO
Rensselaer is a leader in the use of computing to support
education and research. The Division of the Chief Information
Officer provides information services, technology, resources,
and strategies. The talented people of the DotCIO are committed
to providing quality information solutions, bringing
world-class services and support to the Rensselaer campus. I am
very proud of the many accomplishments of the DotCIO staff
which include the mobile computing program (requiring all
entering freshmen to have a laptop computer for use both in and
out of the classroom), support for interactive learning,
state-of-the-art electronic information-retrieval services by
the Libraries, the CCNI, and on-line student and administrative
services. As a visitor or newcomer to Rensselaer, I invite you
to browse these pages to learn of the many varied services that
the DotCIO offers to the Rensselaer community. As a member of
the Rensselaer community, I hope you will find these pages
informative as you use our services to enhance your Rensselaer
activities.
Welcome to Rensselaer!
