Hello RPI Community!
Our Information Security team will be holding two drop-in Office Hours for June for anyone who would like to enroll in Passwordless Authentication to RPI systems that require single sign-on (SSO).
Passwordless Authentication is a highly secure method of authentication, as instead of relying on traditional passwords, your login would verify identity through a combination of:
- Something you have: A registered device that stores your unique passkey through laptop or desktop trusted platform module (TPM) chip
- Something you are: Biometrics, such as fingerprint or facial recognition
As this would utilize two different type of authentication, passwordless still qualifies as multi-factor authentication (MFA), and is typically more secure as there is no password to steal or reuse.
Enrollment in Passwordless will take approximately 5 minutes, and our Information Security team will have drop in Office Hours at the below times and locations:
- Thursday, June 18th at 10 AM - 11 AM - VCC Lobby
- Wednesday, June 24th at 2 pm - 3 pm - CII 3rd Floor Entrance
If you're unable to make it during the listed dates and times, our Calendars are always up to date with the Microsoft Bookings URL below, and we would be happy to assist with passwordless authentication enrollment.
