From DotCIO: Welcome to Mediasite Cloud!

Informational

The conversion to the Cloud Service for Mediasite has been completed and is now available for the campus community to use. The good news is that any bookmarks or links to Mediasite content (such as videos, channels, etc.) that are outside of Blackboard or Canvas will work without needing to be changed, and will be automatically redirected to the new site.

However, MultiMedia Services does recommend updating any bookmarks to reflect the new site address. Individuals editing an older link can simply change the https://mediasite.mms.rpi.edu/mediasite5/… portion of the URL to https://mediasite.mms.rpi.edu/mediasite/… in order to update it.

Along with the move to the cloud, the Mediasite software has been updated to the latest version, 8.12.1, so
those who use the MyMediasite portal may notice changes to the interface. If you have any questions or concerns, or need assistance, please file a support request and select Mediasite Support and Training as the Multimedia Support category.

The documentation available at the internal ITSSC website will be updated to reflect changes to the system. In addition, Mediasite provides freely available documentation for Mediasite 8, as well as free training courses at MediasiteU.

Current Known, Remaining Issues

There are a couple of known issues remaining after the migration to the cloud.

Possible Embedded Link Failure Within Blackboard

Any links embedded in Blackboard using the Mediasite connection that were created before the migration to the cloud may fail to launch with an “OAuth” error. We are currently working with Mediasite and Blackboard to seek an automated solution to fix existing links.

However, if you have videos which are required immediately, we recommend relinking these videos manually. If you require assistance, please file a support request and select Mediasite Support and Training as the Multimedia Support category.

Possible Re-authorization Required to Use Mediasite Mosaic

Individuals who use Mediasite Mosaic may need to reauthorize their application. To do this:

  • Log in to the MyMediasite portal
  • Click on Add Presentation under your name in the left-hand column
  • Select More Information under “Capturing Video Requires an App.”
  • You do not have to reinstall Mosaic. On the right, simply click the Register button under “Install & Register.”
