Webex Education Connector Becomes Webex LTI Legacy

As of June 2024, the Webex Education Connector — utilized to embed Webex meetings in a course in Blackboard — has been migrated to the Webex LTI Legacy tool.  This tool has been updated and improved, and has a new look, so instructors are requested to please be sure that they become familiar with the new tool prior to the semester. More improvements will be rolling out the week of August 19.

Mediasite Capture Offers In-Browser Video Recording, Sharing and Streaming

Multimedia Services is thrilled to announce that recording video via Mediasite Capture is available to all users of the MyMediasite platform. A browser-based recorder which can be used to record camera and/or shared desktop, plus audio on any PC or Mac without the installation of a specialized client, Capture can be utilized to record classes or presentations in spaces not currently equipped with a Mediasite recorder. Once recorded, video will be uploaded to the Mediasite streaming platform and may be shared publicly, secured to the campus community, or included in a class.

Rensselaer Community Members Encouraged to Integrate Campus Applications with Single Sign-On

DotCIO strongly encourages the adoption of Single Sign-On (SSO) for all campus-related applications, especially those handling sensitive information. SSO provides centralized visibility and control over client access, making it easier to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and FERPA.

From Multimedia Services: New MyMediasite Video Editor Now Available

Multimedia Services would like to inform the Rensselaer community that the MyMediasite multimedia video system now has a new video editor with increased functionality that is immediately available to everyone with access to MyMediaite for recorded and uploaded videos.

Decommissioning, Disposing, or Removing IT Equipment from Service

DotCIO provides various licensed applications for use on Rensselaer-owned computer systems.  Additionally, DotCIO provides management and maintenance of Rensselaer computer systems. These applications and services can only be provided for systems in active use and within the possession of Rensselaer.  Further, all computer systems store data which could be sensitive or private in nature. Computer systems not properly decommissioned pose multiple risks including unauthorized use of Rensselaer licensed
